THE BIMBOXES
β Take the time to read this page before you start, it is a summary of CAPLA 360 key concepts.
What is a bimbox ?
The bimboxes are the elementary building blocks of the CAPLA 360 platform. These are the equivalents of teams in MicrosoftTeams or channels in Slack.
Each bimbox is an autonomous workspace dedicated to a defined perimeter of a construction project, yours.
For instance, you can have a bimbox dedicated to a temporary bridge structure, another ones to follow the reinforcement of a slab or all service sleeves of your project.
In summary, you can create a bimbox for each perimeter you work on.
What is inside a bimbox ?
Using markers, visualize 2D plans and 3D models in the same 3D space
You can store in a bimbox all the data that defines the structure you design or build.
The advantage of a bimbox is to locate these data in space, whatever their formats. For a given location, you have the guaranty to have access to all the data necessary and sufficient for its execution.
You use customizable landmarks to help you georeference these documents, one relatively to each other.
You can import into your bimbox two types of data :
models: these are data that can be located in space : images, .pdf, .dxf or .ifc files
datasets : everything else ... But essentially data associated with the elements of the models: dates & manufacturing / delivery status, work progress, ...
Why use a bimbox ?
With a bimbox, each actor of the project can easily access to all the necessary data for execution.
Features will expand over time, but with or without a digital model, a bimbox already makes it possible to "see" without ambiguity what is to build. You will no longer be able to miss an essential data, drowned in the rest.
How to communicate with bimbox and stories ?
Similarly bimboxes are intended to replace all the "static" supports, inherited from the age of paper, to communicate on a project.
You need to make a presentation about the project perimeter you are in charge of ? Why use a ppt when you can show it in a 3D environment ?
In a bimbox, you can create animations and stories to bring your presentations to life. And you can even share them with your favorite apps!
